January 31, 2012 - Accidental Pumping Station Fire in Ocean Pines

On January 31, 2012 the Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated a reported structure fire located at 24 Battersea Road, Ocean Pines, Maryland in Worcester County.  The Ocean Pines Volunteer Fire Company was alerted at approximately 9 pm to respond to the above mentioned address for a reported structure fire.  Upon the fire company’s arrival, they observed fire and smoke extending from a single story pumping station structure.  The fire was quickly extinguished.  The pumping station is owned by Worcester County.  One of the two pumps located inside the building ignited causing the damage.  The fire damage was contained to the pump and surrounding area.  No injuries were reported.  The fire is listed as accidental.  Anyone with additional questions should contact Chief Deputy Matt Owens at 410-632-5666 ext. 2 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. January 28, 2012 - Accidental Dwelling Fire in Berlin

The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated a reported chimney fire which occurred at 110 Branch Street, Berlin, Maryland in Worcester County on January 28, 2012.  The fire was reported at 10:05 am by the occupant/owner of the dwelling, Jeanne Davis.  The Berlin Volunteer Fire Company responded and quickly extinguished the fire.  The fire originated near the chimney serving the wood stove which was in use at the time the fire was discovered.  The fire damage was contained to an area between the exterior wall and the masonry chimney.  No injuries were reported. January 28, 2012 - Non-Permitted Open Burn

The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating an outdoor burn which occurred at 6092 Worcester Highway, Snow Hill, Maryland in Worcester County on January 28, 2012.  The fire was reported at 6:44 pm by a passerby traveling on Worcester Highway.  The Snow Hill Volunteer Fire Company responded and quickly extinguished the fire.  The homeowner, Aaron B. January 16, 2012 - Suspicious Woods Fire in West Ocean City

The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a woods fire which occurred on Sussex Road, Ocean City, Maryland in Worcester County on January 16, 2012.  The fire was reported at 4:49 pm by a neighbor and was quickly extinguished by firefighters from Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company.  The fire damage was contained to a wooded area just off of Sussex Road.  No accidental heat sources were discovered during the course of the investigation.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Chief Deputy Matthew Owens at 410-632-5666 or by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. January 21, 2012 - Accidental Dwelling Fire in Whayleville

On January 21, 2012 the Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated a residential structure fire located at 11518 Longridge Lane, Whayleville, Maryland in Worcester County.  The Berlin and Willards Volunteer Fire Companies were alerted to respond to the above mentioned address for a reported residential structure fire.  Upon the fire company’s arrived, they observed smoke extending from a two story residential dwelling.  Upon further investigation, it was determined the fire was contained to an electrical outlet and the area surrounding the outlet.  The dwelling was occupied at the time the fire was discovered by Tom Mayton.  The dwelling involved in the fire is owned by Calvin and Donna Aydelotte.  No injuries were reported.  The fire is listed as accidental.  Anyone with additional questions should contact Chief Deputy Matt Owens at 410-632-5666 ext. 2 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. January 4, 2012 - Worcester County School Bus Fire

On January 4, 2012 the Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated a school bus fire located at 1718 Dunn Swamp Road, Pocomoke, Maryland in Worcester County.  The Pocomoke Fire Company was alerted to respond to the above mentioned address for a reported well involved school bus fire with exposures.  Upon the fire company’s arrived, they observed a school bus well involved which was in close proximity to a shed.  The fire was quickly extinguished and was contained to the school bus of origin.  The school bus is owned by Kenneth W. Rantz.  No injuries were reported.  The fire originated in the engine compartment and extended into the passenger’s compartment of the school bus.  The school bus was a total loss.  The fire is listed as accidental.  Anyone with additional questions should contact Chief Deputy Matt Owens at 410-632-5666 ext. 2 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
