December 25, 2009 - Pocomoke Dwelling Fire

The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated a residential structure fire which occurred on this date.  The fire was reported at 07:48 am by an occupant of the structure.  The dwelling was occupied at the time of the fire and the occupant was able to escape but was transported to PRMC in Salisbury for smoke inhalation.  First arriving fire units reported fire extending from a single-story residential structure.  Firefighters from the Pocomoke Volunteer Fire Company responded and quickly extinguished the fire.  The dwelling involved in the fire is located at 12 6th Street, Pocomoke, Maryland 21851 in Worcester County.  Firefighters remained on the scene for approximately one hour.  The fire originated in the kitchen and was caused by unattended cooking.  The fire is listed as accidental.  Anyone with additional questions is asked to contact Chief Deputy Fire Marshal Matthew Owens at 410-632-5666 ext. 2 or at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
