 The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated a residential structure fire on this date. The fire was reported at 03:26 am by an occupant of the structure. The dwelling was occupied at the time of the fire by Richard and Robin Soistam and their family. All occupants were able to escape with no injuries reported. First arriving fire units reported fire showing from a 2nd floor deck. Firefighters from the Showell, Ocean Pines and Berlin Volunteer Fire Companies responded and quickly extinguished the fire. The dwelling involved in the fire is located at 11311 Marina Drive, Unit 47, Berlin, Maryland 21811 in Worcester County. Firefighters remained on the scene for approximately one hour. The fire originated on the 2nd floor deck and was caused by smoking. The fire is listed as accidental.
