Worcester County Fire Marshal

The Worcester County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating a garage fire located at 10101 Hayes Landing Road in Berlin, Maryland. The April 11, 2012 fire was reported at 7:21 AM by an occupant of a nearby dwelling. Firefighters from Berlin, Newark, Showell and Ocean Pines Volunteer Fire Companies from Worcester County and Powellville Volunteer Fire Company in Wicomico County responded to assist in extinguishing the fire. First arriving firefighters from Berlin Fire Company reported a large detached garage with fire extending from al sides. Firefighters remained on the scene for approximately five hours. The building is owned by Robert Mattie. The cause of the fire is listed as undetermined and the investigation is continuing.
