Worcester
County Environmental Programs Temporarily Stops Issuing
Outdoor Burning Permits. All open outdoor control
burns have been suspended.
According to Richard Wells, Director of Environmental
Programs, "No new outdoor
burning permits will be issued until the drought conditions
improve in the County".
Although there is no official "Burning Ban" in effect in the
State or Worcester
County, Fire Marshal Jeff McMahon agreed with Mr. Wells.
Fire Marshal McMahon
stated, "The County Fire Departments have been responding
to an increasing
number of outdoor brush and woods fires. The dry
conditions in the County
create a higher fire hazard and citizens should reframe from
conducting any type
of outdoor burns."
