FAMILY OF FOUR LEFT HOMELESS AS FIRE DESTROYS THEIR HOME IN POCOMOKE CITY
“The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated an 8:13 a.m. fire in Pocomoke City, Maryland which left a family of four homeless. The dwelling was occupied at the time of the fire. The four occupants of the dwelling made it out uninjured although a family pet did parish in the fire. The dwelling involved in the fire was located at 914 Walnut Street. Firefighters from the Pocomoke Volunteer Fire Department remained on the scene for approximately three hours extinguishing the blaze. Firefighting efforts were hampered by the cold, freezing temperatures. The Red Cross responded to the scene to assist the family. The fire originated near the rear of the two story wood framed dwelling quickly extending throughout the entire dwelling. The fire was caused by a malfunctioning oil burning heating system.”
