FIRE RIPS THROUGH MOBILE HOME PARK IN BERLIN

"The Worcester County Fire Marshal's Office investigated a fire at the Lakehaven Mobile Home Park located at 11003 Grays Corner Road in Berlin on Saturday.

The Berlin Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to the fire shortly after 1:00 pm. Upon arrival crews observed one mobile home fully involved with fire and a second adjacent home beginning to burn. Severe heat damage was done to three other homes surrounding the ones involved in the fire.

The fire originated in lot 89 which is owned by Fred and Nancy Altman of Baltimore. A second home next door in lot 88 which is owned by Carol Sue Bath Stehle of Baltimore was severely damaged by fire as well. Both homes were vacation homes for the owners.

Due to the extreme heat and fast spreading fire, the Ocean City, Ocean Pines and Showell Volunteer Fire Companies were alerted to assist. No injuries were reported.

The situation was placed under control at 3:04 pm. The cause of the fire is listed as undetermined.
