RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE FIRE IN BERLIN

The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated a residential structure fire
which damaged a Berlin home this morning. The home located at 10146 Germantown Road in Berlin was occupied by Randall Brown and Lorrinna Beaudet at the time of the fire. Mr. Brown learned of the fire as he was leaving the home at approximately 8:56 AM where he observed light smoke coming from the attic eaves. Mr. Brown summoned Ms. Beaudet who was sleeping, and contacted the Berlin Volunteer Fire Company who immediately responded and located a fire in the attic. An origin and cause fire investigation showed the fire was caused by a malfunctioning electrical service line in the attic. Damages to the single story 1941 home are estimated at approximately $15,000. Firefighters remained on the scene for approximately one hour extinguishing the fire. The fire is listed as accidental.
