SPRINKLERS SAVE APARTMENT COMPLEX IN SNOW HILL
“The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated a fire in a Snow Hill apartment complex this morning. At approximately 8:33 this morning a fire was reported at the Greenbriar Court Apartments. Firefighters arrived on the scene and were directed to unit 404 where a sprinkler head activated from the fire. Fire officials reported the fire was completely contained by the sprinkler system. After interviewing the tenant Forest Wade Connor, Mr. Connor advised he was cooking a pan of grease in the kitchen when a fire on the stove ignited and sent fire throughout the kitchen. The building which is completely protected by an automatic sprinkler system contained the fire to the room of origin with one sprinkler head. Three other tenants suffered minor water damage from the sprinkler head activation. The sprinkler system was restored within hours of activation. This is the second fire Mr. Connor has been involved in where cooking on the stove has ignited a fire in the home.”
