HOME DESTROYED BY FIRE IN POCOMOKE CITY

The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating an early morning fire which destroyed a Pocomoke City home at the intersection of Clarke Ave and Laurel Street. It took firefighters from Pocomoke and New Church, VA approximately 7 hours to bring the fire under control. Two firefighters received minor injuries while fighting the fire but were treated and released on the scene. Three families that lived in the home were displaced by the fire and were assisted by the American Red Cross with temporary housing. The cause of the fire is listed as undetermined but originated from a first floor apartment.
