Elevated Fire Danger
The National Weather Service is warning of elevated fire danger in the area today.
In a statement, the Weather Service office in Wakefield, Va., said high pressure will remain the dominant feature across the Mid-Atlantic region through the end of the week.
Sunny and dry conditions will prevail today with
moderating daytime temperatures and continued low relative humidities
between 20 and 30 percent during the afternoon.
These conditions will lead to an elevated fire danger across the region
today especially with fuels such as grass and brush.
While a faster than normal fire spread or growth potential exists today, the
potential for wildfires is expected to be limited by the relatively light
surface wind speeds generally ranging between 6 and 12 mph, the weather
service said.
Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged today across the region.
The advisory covers Wicomico, Somerset, inland Worcester and Dorchester
counties in Maryland and Accomack and Northampton counties in Virginia.
