RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE FIRE IN SELBYVILLE
The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated a residential structure fire located at 1398 Jefferson Avenue, Selbyville, DE 19975.
The Ocean City and Roxana Fire Departments responded to a two-story residential structure for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival of Ocean City units they reported a fire on the second floor. Upon entry by Ocean City Firefighters, the crews encountered a female victim located on the second floor in a bathroom. Paramedics treated and transported the female to Atlantic General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
A further investigation showed the fire which was originally thought to be in Maryland, was actually in Selbyville, Delaware. The Worcester County Fire Marshal's Office turned over and assisted the Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office with the investigation.
One fatality was reported The cause of the fire is undetermined.
