INTENTIONALLY SET FIRE AT ASSATEAGUE ISLAND

The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated a commercial structure fire located at the Assateague Island State Park bath house in Berlin, Maryland.

The Ocean City and Berlin Fire Departments responded to the incident. First arriving officers from the Maryland Natural Resources Police confirmed the fire had been extinguished by passing by visitors to the park. The bath house was closed for the season.

An investigation showed the fire was intentionally set or arson. Damages are estimated at approximately $500.00.

No injuries were reported.
