PRESS RELEASE

"Pocomoke Family Homeless After Late Morning Fire"

"The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office has investigated a fire that destroyed a Pocomoke City home located at 706 9th Street. Arriving firefighters reported heavy smoke and fire venting from the front of the house upon their arrival of the 11:01 A.M. alarm. The fire was quickly extinguished, however the fire gutted the one story single family home. No one was home at the time of the fire. The house is owned and occupied by Brenda Revells and her teenage daughter. Firefighters from the Snow Hill Volunteer Fire Company assisted Pocomoke. The cause of the fire was accidental and blamed on an electric potpourri heating device. Contributing to the overheating of the potpourri device was an overloaded multi-plug extension cord."
