West Ocean City Fire Destroys Home & Leaves a Family Homeless
The Worcester County Fire Marshal's Office investigated a fire which was reported at 11:07 a.m. and was located at 10303 Breakwater Court, Ocean City, Maryland (located in the Oyster Harbor subdivision).
The initial unit from the Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company arrived on the scene reporting heavy smoke showing from the roof of a two story single family dwelling. Approximately fifty firefighters from the Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene and quickly extinguished the fire. Firefighters remained on the scene for approximately 3 hours.
The dwelling involved in the fire is owned by David and Linda Schafer. The Harrison Group from Ocean City is providing the Shafer family of four a place to live until the first of the year. The fire was reported by David Schafer who had returned home to find smoke extending from the roof of his dwelling. The fire is listed as accidental caused by the home's heating system.
